Seeking Pearls

God is our King, and he desires to have our hearts follow him only. He is holy; he is powerful; he is King.

In today's very challenging text we focus on the shocking love and faithfulness of God.

Judges is a sad cycle of forgetting God, sin, oppression, forgiveness, and deliverance. It is very real, raw, and can be disheartening to read. On the other hand, we can see our own patterns of walking with God, falling away, sin, and asking God yet again to come and rescue us.

In Joshua we see God's promise to Abraham coming to fruition as the Israelites conquer the land of Canaan and make allotments of the land. God is the one true God who invites us to walk with him faithfully and love him fully.

God is a mighty, sun-stopping, covenant-fulfilling God!
Correction: when I was listening I realized that I twice stated that 2-3 thousand people crossed the Jordan. I misspoke! It was 2-3 MILLION!

God is a covenant making God who walks with us people and desires a personal relationship with us. The end of Moses' life is beautiful proof of a life lived with God.

In the middle chapters of Deuteronomy we continue hearing God's command to be careful, to celebrate and rejoice, and to care for our neighbors in community. It ends with a beautiful picture of God walking amongst the people, which is exactly how the Bir begins and ends.

We have a covenant-keeping, loving, mighty God who loves us, chooses us, and asks that we love him back.

There is nothing easy or light about today's text! But it is real and powerful and full of truth. God is pure. God is holy. God is just.

The Bible is raw and real and doesn't sugarcoat a thing! Join me in some tough chapters!
